Yesterday was a little better. I ate some more turkey and a little mashed potatoes. For dinner I had half a grilled chicken breast and green beans. It all stayed down pretty well so that was exciting. Last night I did slip a bit, and had a piece of apple pie, but paid for it dearly.
I hate being sick but my body really does insist on only healthy food when I am, lol. No exercising the last few days, unless you can count scrubbing the bathroom down from top to bottom.
Today and tomorrow I'm going to be as slow at everything as I can to try and kick this cold-thing.
As I mentioned in my LJ, I saw a nutritionist about two weeks ago. My blood pressure is off the charts. I'm about 70 pounds heavier than I need to be. I'm at risk for diabetes and stroke. And to top it all off, none of my clothes fit right and I can't afford to replace them all.
So I am journaling every bite of food that goes into my mouth and am trying to exercise at least 3 times a week. My biggest concern is sodium. I have become über-aware of how much sodium is in the food we eat and it really is a "silent killer." My target sodium intake is 3000mg or less and so far it's been challenging but I've manged to meet the challenge. I've lost about 5 pounds so far, all of it water weight, I'm sure, because it's been Niagara Falls ever since I stared limiting my salt.
I'm glad to have a resource for new and interesting recipes because am really starting to get sick of baked chicken breasts and steamed vegetables. If I come up with anything good, I'll share it here, and you can be sure it will be low in salt. I need to get my blood pressure down within acceptable levels by December 26th, at which time I will go back to the doctor to see whether or not he's going to put me on blood pressure medication. Good Luck to us all!
In case anyone is wondering - I don't actually update here. I have two other journals that I write in regularly, and have this account mostly just to keep track of friends who write their journals here. :)
